This past week I began working on my second research assessment, an annotated bibliography. Although I felt good working with the different sources, tracking down sources took a lot of time. I desperately searched for news articles, interviews, journals, and videos. The few sources I did find would require me to register with an account on a sketchy website. Despite the struggles I experienced while working on this research assessment, I had great takeaways from my chosen articles. One article from the NIH detailed strategies for communicating with patients, and I especially enjoyed reading this as communication is one of my highly valued skills. When I volunteered at the children’s hospital, I got to interact with young patients in the waiting areas. I got to practice playful communication, but the NIH article helped me understand and communicate medical matters with the patient through various methods for maximum understanding. I took and loved AP Psychology last year, so I really enjoyed the connection made to psychology’s developmental stages and how the stage a child is in can affect their communication capabilities. Beyond my research assessment, my classmates and I reviewed business professional attire by creating a fun and educational video on it. Going into this week, I plan to further my call log with contacts and schedule at least one interview.
