Over the past week, I prepared for our district-wide ISM research showcase. For starters, I finalized any details on my display board and fixed what had been worn down with time. I added a more polished version of my mentor bio and had it actually verified with him. I also added my updated resume to the board. In preparation for the actual showcase, I changed up my presentation slides a bit and put them on a loop function. The UNT campus was nice and I was especially grateful for Mr. Ratliff on that day. Our room was set up spaciously whereas other rooms were cramped and hot. The showcase overall was a success in book; many students, parents, and mentors came by to visit. I loved getting to see every other school’s boards and topics too. I had a good deal of visitors myself, including my cousin, Reedy friends, and family friends. A few students even came and asked me for advice regarding applying to ISM themselves. Another group of girls seemed genuinely interested in hearing about anesthesia and I appreciated that. The night ended well with a much-needed trip to In-n-Out! Outside of ISM, I competed at the Visual Arts Scholastic Event on Saturday and, although I did not advance to State, I got a perfect score on my piece.
