This past week, I furthered my speaking skills and original work research. My classmates
and I spent much of the week preparing our 8-10 minute research speech. Admittedly, I was a
bunch of nerves every minute before the speech. I do wish I was able to rely less on my script
because I ended up skipping over some important information in my final speech. However, the
speech overall was better than I expected and I was happy to have an interesting audience. I also
enjoyed hearing other people speak so passionately about their topics. I got the opportunity to
learn about topics that I would not otherwise have explored. For example, I loved my classmate’s
speech about sports photography. Regarding my original work, I researched less about the what
and more about the how. How can I create a children’s book? I hope to get started on actually
creating the original work as soon as possible. I wrapped up my week at a long-awaited concert.
My friends and I got the tickets back in May, so I was excited to finally go and Laufey’s music!
Just like I felt I had done during my speech, all of the fans got to loudly sing the iconic lyric,
“blah, blah, blah”, along with Laufey. She had a great opener to start the night, and she ended the
night with a touching tune. “Letter To My 13 Year Old Self” is a tear-jerker for many.
